The Sounds of Planet Earth

College Radio at its Most Global

Brought to you by WXJM 88.7 Harrisonburg, Va

The Sounds go on every Sunday night from 10:00 – Midnight, featuring the sounds being made by earth animals, especially humans, in every form.

We play music from every country and folk, and we discuss issues of topical consciousness, with the understanding that by understanding other people, and all the possibilities out there, we can create a more compassionate, conscious, healthy and sustainable world.

The Sounds are hosted by Marley Miles and Annie Cantrell, residents of the Shenandoah Valley bioregion, and students of James Madison University. As the mission of The Sounds is to spread the sounds of all humans, we want to hear from you. We want to hear your thoughts on the issues we discuss, and the music we play, as well your ideas on what sounds we ought to explore.

So please, let us know what you think, by commenting on this page, by calling in live (540-568-3425) or by emailing us at either – Marley – Annie

You can hear The Sounds, and many other shows featuring alternative and independent music, on 88.7 FM in the immediate Harrisonburg area, or by tuning into the webcast on Sunday nights, or by downloading our weekly podcast.

For now you can get weekly recordings of The Sounds by downloading the file below. You can take the Sounds anywhere, and share them with anyone. The exact process of getting the file may change over the weeks, but we will try to get them out there one way or another.

  1. hi there – we’re musical environmental activists in the UK and we were wondering if you’d like to feature some of our music in one of your broadcasts..
we visited america in 1999 to come to the huge seattle protest then again in 2000 to support the small and family farmers of america when they marched on washington and also to fight the imposition of gm crops – we even got an interview on the ‘democracy now’ show when we were over … i just came across your site following links of a myspace friend – let me know if you like our stuff and we’ll be in touch,
